Storybook Speech was founded by Anna Talley, M.S. CCC-SLP. Within the field of Speech Pathology, Anna specializes in early speech and language disorders and delays. She loves working with families early, since over 90% of brain development happens before age 5! Anna has a holistic, evidence-based, and naturalistic approach to language development and loves play-based, highly individualized therapy.
Anna earned her Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, magna cum laude, from Baylor University. There, she served as a research assistant for Baylor faculty studying the epidemiology of speech sound disorders. She also worked in the university's language and literacy clinic, supporting children with language-based reading disorders.
She went on to complete her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, where she found a passion for early speech and language disorders. She is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of CA and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Before founding Storybook Speech Anna worked as a Preschool Language Specialist for Santa Barbara County.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need speech therapy?
A speech-language assessment will determine whether your child could benefit from speech therapy services. During an assessment we will evaluate all areas of communication including expressive language, receptive language, and speech sound development to determine you child’s individual strengths and where they may need extra support. What is included in a caregiver training package?
The caregiver training is ideal for young children with a mild language delay, whose parents aren’t quite ready to jump into speech therapy, but want to know how they can help improve their child’s language development at home. Or maybe they are in publicly available therapy and want to know how to give their child extra support to make progress faster. It includes an assessment, parent coaching, speech language pathologist check-ins, and caregiver tips based on your child’s particular needs. These are naturally included and embedded into our private speech therapy sessions, so a caregiver training package is only necessary for families who do not enroll in therapy but want to know how to support their child’s development at home.My child is in speech therapy through the public school system, can they still enroll in private therapy?
Yes! Public and private therapy can look very different. Some parents choose to have their child in private therapy in addition to public to get extra support.Do you bill insurance?
At this time we do not bill insurance, but superbills are available upon request for insurance reimbursement. How much does private speech therapy cost?
Depending on the type of service, private therapy sessions typically cost $80-150. Group sessions are typically the most cost effective private therapy option.
Comprehensive speech-language assessment: ~$200
Speech-language enrichment group therapy: ~$80/session
Private 1:1 speech therapy: ~$130/session
